ATTENTION!

The flu season is now in full swing, but not everyone knows all of the necessary steps to take to help combat the spread of influenza.

Flu Prevention Tips:

  • Stay up-to-date on your flu vaccine. It is the only vaccine that will help prevent influenza.
  • Wash your hands on a regular basis. Washing several times a day with soap and water helps protects you from critical touch points, such as door knobs, handles, buttons, etc.
  • Cover your mouth and nose when you sneeze or cough! Use a tissue or long sleeve.
  • Avoid touching your face or mouth with unwashed hands. This is the easiest way for germs to enter your body.
  • Eating well balanced, healthy meals will help strengthen your immune system.
  • Keeping an active lifestyle will aid your immune system in recovering from influenza.
  • Flu viruses are capable of “living” on surfaces for up to 48 hours. Make sure you have a consistent cleaning routine in place for your surrounding environments.
  • Door knobs, toilet handles, cell phones, remotes and trash cans are great examples of everyday items that harbor germs.
  • Be sure to wash used towels and sheets often.

If you come in contact with the influenza virus, be sure to wear a surgical mask to prevent spreading the virus to others. People that have not came in contact with the flu do not need to wear these masks as it wastes resources for medical professionals and people who are sick.

Making Progress

Resources are wasted every year by improper cleaning methods that have no effect in combating the flu. By following these simple tips you can significantly decrease the chance of catching and spreading the flu.
